Hi, I’m Matthew Harrison, a wildlife photographer based in southwest Georgia, specializing in bird and aquatic wildlife photography around Lake Seminole and nearby wetlands.
My journey into photography began as a way to slow down and spend more time outdoors. What started as casual exploration quickly turned into a deep appreciation for documenting wildlife in its natural environment. I focus on capturing authentic moments — birds in flight, quiet reflections on the water, and the subtle interactions that often go unnoticed.
Lake Seminole is my primary photography location and one of the most diverse wildlife habitats in Georgia. Throughout the year, the lake attracts a wide range of species, including herons, ibis, ducks, eagles, and other waterfowl. Learning the seasonal patterns and behavior of these animals has shaped my photography style and approach.
I spend many early mornings photographing wildlife during natural light conditions, aiming to create images that feel calm, balanced, and true to the moment. My work avoids heavy manipulation and instead highlights natural colors, textures, and movement.
As a Georgia wildlife photographer, my goal is to create images that feel timeless and respectful of nature. I believe great wildlife photography comes from patience, observation, and understanding the environment rather than forcing a shot.
